Umeshu is a very popular liquor among Japanese. Most products that are on the market overseas are cheap mass-produced and very sweet drinks based on cheap alcohol with a large amount of sugar additives. However, the Kamoizumi Umeshu is a high quality product which a traditional sake brewery made from high quality plums and Junmaishu. The amount of sugar is modest, so that the natural sweetness of the sake is not affected.
The mildness of Junmaishu and the plum acidity harmonize perfectly. This Umeshu is characterized by its ripe plum aroma and has a long finish with salty and mineral notes.
