However, there are two types of chirashi sushi. In both, the rice is served in a bowl or a special box. Chirashi sushi from the Kanto region is also called nama chirashi (\u751f\u3061\u3089\u3057), while chirashi sushi from the Kansai region is called gomoku chirashi (\u4e94\u76ee\u3061\u3089\u3057).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3ddb692 title-h3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3ddb692\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What is chirashi sushi or nama chirashi?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-715e11f text-edit elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"715e11f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Chirashi sushi consists of raw sushi toppings cut into small pieces, as we know them from nigiri sushi. The small, very colorful pieces are scattered on the leavened rice, which creates a beautiful picture. Chirashi sushi is especially popular for the Doll Festival on March 3, Hinamatsuri, as well as served at family gatherings.<\/p><p>It is not known where the custom originated or how long chirashi sushi has existed in Japan. Since Hinamatsuri is traditionally considered a celebration of girls, especially colorful arrangements are common for chirashi sushi. <\/p><p>Nama-chirashi became really popular after the Meiji period (1868-1912) as a descendant of edomae sushi (\u6c5f\u6238\u524d\u5bff\u53f8). Typically, a wide variety of fresh fish or seafood is used. Sometimes you read the term fukiyose sushi (\u5439\u304d\u5bc4\u305b\u5bff\u53f8) in this context. \"Fukiyose\" means to combine several things into one.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e1681ab title-h4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e1681ab\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">How to eat nama chirashi?<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-976cb35 text-edit elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"976cb35\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The best way to eat chirashi sushi is to pick up a piece of neta (topping) with your chopsticks, dip it in the soy sauce (on a separate small plate), put it back on the rice, and eat it all together <a href=\"https:\/\/news.infoseek.co.jp\/article\/otonasalone_159081\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(Source)<\/a>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a30b3a8 title-h3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"a30b3a8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What is Gomoku-Chirashi?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-24c2c45 text-edit elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"24c2c45\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Gomoku-Chirashi consists of various ingredients that are first cooked (prepared) and then mixed with the vinegar-sour rice. It is believed that gomoku chirashi has been known since the Kamakura period. The word \"gomoku\" literally means \"five parts.\" However, it can also mean a whole range of things.<\/p><p>Gomoku chirashi consists of a variety of prepared and seasoned ingredients: shiitage, egg, kanpyo, lotus root and carrots, peas and more, which were mixed into the rice.<\/p><p>Sometimes you can also find the terms Maze Sushi (\u6df7\u305c\u5bff\u53f8) or Bara Sushi (\u3070\u3089\u5bff\u53f8) for Gomoku Sushi.<\/p><p>The verb \"mazeru\" means to mix, the verb \"barasu\" means to divide something into parts.<\/p><p>Nowadays, however, the term bara-chirashi is also used when raw fish in small cubes is mixed in or sprinkled over the sushi rice.
