Review Whisky Tasting March 2019 - it was worth it...

An intimate group had gathered at our Whisky Tasting on March 17, 2019 at the sansaro restaurant in Munich - despite fantastic Sunday weather, all visitors were in high spirits when Jürgen Liebenau, expert for rare Japanese whiskies, opened the Whisky Tasting at sansaro.

As an additional, unplanned entry, the participants were allowed to taste a Nikka Coffey Grain as Mizuwara: rumor has it that Nikka has discontinued the production of the wonderful Nikka Coffey Malt and Coffey Grain, so that they will probably soon become much more expensive or - like many other Japanese whisky - will hardly be available. In the restaurant sansaro we have stocked up with some bottles, so that they can taste the wonderful entry-level whiskey from the special column distillation process with us at any time in small quantities.

This was followed by the Suntory Royal SR, an old Collector's item from the stocks of jwhisky: the bottle already a little tarnished, but the aroma wonderfully gentle and appealing! The whiskey was so well received by many participants that we immediately asked Mr. Liebenau to put aside his remaining stocks for our guests in the SUSHIYA sansaro. Probably from May 2019 it will be on our new drinks menu as a new entry-level whisky.

It continued with a fireworks display of rare and high quality Japanese whisky such as Nikka Taketsuru 17, a Wine Wood Reserve Blended from Chichibu and an IPA Cask Single Malt from Chichibu to finally end on a high note with a Key Malt "Fruity & Rich" that Mr. Liebenau had privately brought from Nikka's distillery, complete with a homemade marble cake dessert.

In between, the enthusiasm for our individual food pairings was unmistakable: after all, many participants are of the opinion that these are really not so much whisky tastings as food pairing events for gourmets. For us, it is standard that we strive for creativity. high-quality ingredients and appropriate pairing. The high effort of our kitchen team is then also rewarded by a thunderous applause at the end, for our kitchen of course always exciting to work with special materials and to taste guests who appreciate the special.

We are looking forward to the next whisky tasting in our restaurant in Munich - according to plan there will be dstaas next whisky tasting again in the fall and we inform as always in time via our newsletter. In between it is also always worthwhile to visit our Gift vouchers for whisky tasting to buy: if we see that there is a high demand and many vouchers are sold, so we will be happy to offer another tasting in between in the summer.

And if you want to think outside the box: we also offer regular sake tastings, the aromatic Japanese rice wine in premium quality -. all info and current dates can be found at www.sushiya.de/sake-tasting/. The next date is scheduled for May 5, 2019.
